Most Israelis that make the trek through the Negev desert to Eilat every summer enjoy the usual Eilat attractions which they have been visiting for years, the basic must-sees Eilat attractions are the Dolphin Reef, the Tielet (open stalls market at night); IMAX theatre and obviously the sea and Eilat water sports. However there are several relatively new eilat attractions which many visiting tourists to Eilat may not have heard of. Here are the most recently opened Eilat attractions, some have been open a few years and others a few months.
Nightmare Eilat
Opened a few years ago the Nightmare is a house of horrors like no other. You enter a dark space and walk through a series of rooms with a scary surprise in each. Live ghosts and Chainsaw murderers approach you and seem to be coming straight for you. If you chicken out and want to end the "nightmare" there is a safe word which will get you whisked out of the impending danger, the safe word is "nightmare"! Many a brave man has cried out in terror for release from this true house of horrors, and not all participants make it all the way through. Nightmare is located on level 1, in the old shopping complex called ironically the New Tourist Center opposite the Imax theatre, 1 Yotam Street.. Opening hours are 18:00-03:00 and entrance costs 50 shekels.
Ice Space Eilat
As with the popular Ice Bars that have popped up around the world, Ice Space takes you from the 40+ centigrade heat of Eilat into an Arctic -7 degrees centigrade world of 150 tones of ice statues, slides, bars, igloos and even a musical ice wall. Warm clothes are provided and you can buy a drink at the ice bar in an ice cup. The Ice Space attraction in Eilat is not an Ice Bar but a complete Ice experience. This Eilat attraction is god for the whole family. The Ice Space Eilat is open from Monday to Saturday 10:00-00:00 and Sunday 17:00-00:00. Entrance to the Eilat attraction Ice Space is 48 shekels for kids and 54 shekels for adults, there is no limit to the time you can spend in the refrigerator like environment. Eilat's Ice Space is located in the Spiral Complex (Red Sea Tower), Marina, which is the building behind the flying ball at the end of the Tielet.
Doctor Dag Fish Spa Eilat
Located in the same building as the Ice Space on the Eilat beach front Doctor Dag (Dag is the Hebrew word for fish) offers the Japanese experience of having a fish pedicure, where tiny fish eat away at the dead skin on your feet. You put your feet into a pool of water and immediately your feet become a magnate for the fish which tickles and massage and clean your feet. You can also get your hands done. This Eilat attraction is also good for all the family to have a few laughs. Doctor Dag Fish Spa is open daily from 10:00-22:00. The spa is also available for parties and groups and has access for the disabled. Cost of this fishy Eilat attraction starts at 50 shekels and treatments take about half an hour.
Other lesser known Eilat attractions include a Turkish Bath, The Mine and Eilat – My City Museum. So next time you are looking for an interesting Eilat attraction try some of these newer Eilat activities.
